ABOUT
Voted the 10th Best Guitarist in Brazil (Roadie Crew Readers – 2014 and 2020)
"Remember the generation of virtuoso guitarists launched by Shrapnel Records? Now imagine an album released in 2019 that takes you right back to that era which introduced the world to names like Paul Gilbert, Vinnie Moore, Tony MacAlpine, Joey Tafolla, Richie Kotzen, Marty Friedman, Jason Becker, and many others. You don’t have to imagine — just listen to Scream of Insanity, the first solo work by Minas Gerais native Edu Megale, who brought that era back with an album that evokes the vibe of the '80s shredders, filled with fast and consistent melodies."
– Daniel Dutra, Roadie Crew
Born in Belo Horizonte, Edu Megale began studying guitar at the age of 17 and hasn’t stopped since. Fascinated by Iron Maiden and Adrian Smith’s solos, he later discovered the guitarist who would become his greatest inspiration: Jason Becker. This led him on a journey into the world of music, practicing for many hours every day. Along the way, he studied with several teachers — including Mozart Mello, Edu Ardanuy, Celso Moreira, Matt Warnock, Luis Felipe Sousa, and Marcão, among others — all of whom influenced his playing style. He studied harmony, improvisation, classical guitar, jazz, and fusion.

In 2009, at the age of 19, Edu Megale recorded Fog of Madness, his first album with the band Nickel. The following year, he was accepted into the Classical Guitar program at the Centro de Formação Artística (CEFAR), where he refined his technique with a focus on classical music.
In 2011, he took part in a few tracks with the band RAM on the album Orange Orgio Orbis, which won the awards for Best Independent Band Music Video and Best Compilation Album in Minas Gerais. During this time, he toured across Brazil, performing at major events. In addition to his work as a guitarist, he was also invited to create soundtracks and effects for the games Inbio Assault and Ninjas Attack.
In 2012, he recorded with the band Cadio and had the opportunity to perform with American jazz singer Holly Holmes and Canadian guitarist Matt Warnock, who became one of his main mentors in the music industry.
The following year, he joined forces with Guilherme de Alvarenga for the solo project D.A.M., which introduced an innovative musical approach and allowed for significant technical and sonic development. In 2014, Edu turned his focus to the music business, completing dozens of courses in entrepreneurship, music education, negotiation, business planning, and marketing. Soon after, he began giving lectures on music education at one of the most renowned institutions in the field.
With D.A.M.’s growing international recognition, the band received coverage in hundreds of reviews worldwide, including in Japan’s prestigious Burrn! Magazine, drawing the attention of Stay Gold Records, a Japanese label with which they signed for several years. During this period, Edu recorded guitar tracks for the EPs Phantasmagoria (2014) and Premonitions (2016), as well as the album The Awakening (2014). His work on Premonitions earned him the title of 10th Best Brazilian Guitarist according to the readers of Roadie Crew magazine.
This phase of Edu’s career was marked by the realization of major dreams. He was invited to a jam session with one of his biggest idols, Paul Gilbert (Mr. Big), and shared the stage with acclaimed guitarists such as Edu Ardanuy (Sinistra, ex-Dr. Sin). In 2015, together with his D.A.M. bandmates, he conducted several workshops and released the music video Reborn from the Shadows. Later that same year, he had the opportunity to perform alongside the legendary Steve Vai, and in November, toured Argentina with D.A.M. Upon returning to Brazil, he took part in Ricardo Confessori’s (Shaman, ex-Angra) show in Belo Horizonte.
In 2020, Edu released his first solo EP, Screams of Insanity, which reached #17 among the best albums of the year according to Roadie Crew readers, and once again ranked him among the Top 10 Brazilian Guitarists (2014 and 2020). That same year, he released the EP Let’s Go with the band Loss, whose music video for Burn Inside was aired on national TV. In March 2021, the release of the band’s second video, Até Quando, featuring rapper Roger Deff, was scheduled.
In 2021, he joined the legendary thrash metal band The Mist, taking part in the recording of the EP The Circle of the Crow, produced by guitarist Alan Wallace (Eminence, No Life on Earth).
The following year, he returned to the studio with his D.A.M. bandmates to record the final album in the group’s trilogy, still unreleased.
In 2023, after a season in Portugal, he returned to Brazil and rejoined The Mist.
Then in 2024, he played a series of shows with the band, which is now preparing to release a new album and music video in 2025.
